The known data on cytokine gene polymorphism indicate that in women with preterm birth, the presence of pro-inflammatory dominant alleles is typical. This may lead to increased production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the utero-placental complex and may also initiate preterm delivery. At present, studies are under way to identify genes that determine the duration of the gestation period. A better understanding of the preterm birth pathogenesis is expected to help prevent this unfortunate outcome and decrease perinatal morbidity and mortality.</p>
Понимание патогенеза преждевременных родов позволит проводить профилактику этого осложнения беременности, что приведет к снижению перинатальной заболеваемости и смертности.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>преждевременные роды</kwd><kwd>патогенез</kwd><kwd>полиморфизм генов</kwd><kwd>цитокины</kwd><kwd>геном</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>preterm birth</kwd><kwd>pathogenesis</kwd><kwd>gene polymorphism</kwd><kwd>cytokines</kwd><kwd>genome</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Barfield W.D.
